Club Rides and Activities

Sunday Morning Rides

These take place all year round but vary in speed to cater for different abilities.  Rides suitable for intermediate or social riders have an average speed of 15-16 mph.  Rides suitable for experienced or seasoned rides have an average speed of 16-18 mph.

Members are urged to choose the correct ride for their level of experience so the ride is cohesive and not disrupted by differing abilities.

All rides start at Stone Cross Memorial Hall.  The meeting time is 8:45am for a prompt start at 9am.  Lights are recommended and helmets compulsory.

The routes vary from week to week and are published on our main Facebook page www.facebook.com/roverscycling.

Tuesday Night Ride with Rovers

This ride takes place during the summer months, generally from April through to October.  The ride is approximately 15 miles in length which should take about an hour at a comfortable 15mph pace.

For racing members it is an ideal recovery ride following their weekend efforts while welcoming newcomers to the club with a friendly introduction to group riding in a relaxed atmosphere on relatively quiet roads.  Lights are recommended and helmets compulsory.

These rides are very popular and often attracting over 40 riders so groups are encouraged to split into different groups depending on ability.
The routes vary from week to week and are published on our main Facebook page www.facebook.com/roverscycling.

Different Ride Options

The club endeavours to take account of different abilities by offering a rage of rides which generally include the following options:

Ride with Rovers (Monday Evenings summer months only)

1 hour 15 mile ride at 15 mph suitable for newcomers.

Roam with Rovers (Sunday mornings all year round)

3-4 hour 45-60 mile ride between 15-16 mph suitable for intermediates and social riders.

Club run with Rovers (Sunday morning all year round)

33-4 hour 45-60 mile ride between 16-18 mph suitable for experienced or seasoned riders who prefer a faster pace.

Ad Hoc Rides

Many members arrange additional rides between themselves and advertise them in the members’ Facebook group.  Although these are not official club rides those organising them are encouraged to do so in such a way that other members feel welcome to come along and join in.  Wherever possible rides should start from Stone Cross Memorial Hall and riders should observe the club group riding etiquette.
